The first-ever National Information Convention was held in Davao City for 3 days, February 19-21, 2018 at SMX Convention Center.
Davao Digital Influencers, Inc. the leading social media group in Davao Region was invited to participate in this event and be a part of the #NIC2018. To understand how Duterte Administration communicate its key policies in disseminating true facts and information to its constituents.
Philippine Information Agency Director-General Harold Clavite on his opening remarks during the 1st day of #NIC2018, "We’re all in this convention today united for a common cause and that is, to communicate the development agenda of the Administration by capacitating the men and women who can ensure that timely, accurate, relevant, and truthful information are disseminated to every Filipino.... 'What we aim to accomplish in this convention is to have a deeper understanding of our role as information officers in fulfilling development objectives, and gain a greater appreciation of the positive impact we can make in the lives of the Filipino people."... "to agree on a declaration where we will commit ourselves to Responsible Communication."
A welcoming remarks by Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio was delivered by 1st District Councilor Maria Belen Sunga-Acosta.
The convention feature three main activities: plenary session, breakout session and exhibit.

Communication serves as the clutch of the government's vehicle that allows advocacies to keep rolling towards good governance. But government communication is beyond informing the public. Rather, it involves advocating the government's trusts and engaging the citizens through effective and responsible communication.
