Cheering for another great news after Davao City Mayor Duterte become the first President of the Philippines coming from Mindanao, Davao City to host the 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019.
With Brunei's withdrawal, the Philippines had expressed its interest to host the said events. In 2005, Philippine hosted the Games and emerged as the overall champion.
Last July 10, 2015, The Philippine Olympic Committee(POC) announced that the Manila will be hosting the Games. However in July 2016, following the proposal of the POC Chair Peping Cojuangco, it was changed from Manila to Davao City and later approved by President Rodrigo Duterte.

Aside from giving Davao a spotlight of this game as a host in sports they want also to give Davao as a general tourism destination, this would help boost tourism progress in the region.

Instead of building new facilities, the Philippine Sports Commission planned to use the existing sports facilities tapping the use of private facilities such as the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and the Philippine Sports Stadium and Philippine Arena in Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue. And Davao del Norte Sports Complex is among the prospect venues just in case Davao City falls short.

And as for this week, the team is now checking the first phase of Davao City Sports Complex located on a 20-hectare site of the University of the Philippines Mindanao campus and the 10-hectare sports-hub located inside the University of Mindanao and lastly the 70,000 seat King Dome built by the church of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.Read more here: Inquirer
