This is our fourth year in celebrating "Torotot Festival" here in Davao City. The city will continue to observe New Year's Eve in it's unique way, since the banning of the fireworks/firecrackers here in town, through torotot (horn) festival in partnership with SMART COMMUNICATIONS.
By using horns and other noisemakers, Davao City continue to set the advocacy for zero casualties on New Year's Eve.
Since the implementation of the FIRECRACKER BAN in 2001 and remains to be effect until now, Davao City celebrates Christmas and New Year peacefully with only a handful of firecracker-related injuries recorded in the hospitals.
The ban has not only saved hundreds of lives, a zero death recorded from firecracker blasts or stray bullets, no fire house incident, spared residents from losing their fingers and eyesight's, and for those suffered from smoke suffocation due to firecrackers.
And for those of you would like to join the said New Year Countdown Celebration, you can participate also by joining different competition set for the events. There would be a COSPLAY COMPETITION, HIPHOP DANCE COMPETITION (10-15 members), CREATIVE TOROTOT CONTEST, COSTUME PARADE IN TOROTOT INSPIRED COMPETITION, ZUMBA COMPETITION (10-15 members).
