THE Davao City Council passed Tuesday a resolution urging City Hall to issue a cease and desist order against a tabloid circulating in the city that features obscene articles.
This after Councilor Pilar Braga, chair of the City Council committee on energy, transportation, and communication, in her privilege speech, raised concern on Hot Expose, a tabloid circulating in the city, particularly on its regular columns entitled "Textmate Sexmate", "Rape Files", among others.
Braga specifically called for the attention of the publication's publisher Rolando Jota and managing editor Marlon Habon, for their alleged "immoral and shameless tabloid".
"Any decent Dabawenyo will surely react negatively especially when such tabloid finds its way in the hands of our children," Braga said.
The resolution also aims to cover other publications that feature obscene materials as mentioned by Braga.
"I call upon our law enforcers, the police, to stop Hot Expose with our Anti-Pornographic Ordinance as a basis," Braga said.
"I call upon all decent people denounce Expose," she added.
Efforts to reach the publisher and editors of the tabloid proved futile as of press time. (JOP)
