Davao City Bypass Construction Project by the JICA #DavaoCity #DavaoDevelopment #PublicTransitTunnel

JICA (Japanese International Cooperation Agency) offered the City Government of Davao in building a first-of-a-kind project in Mindanao under a long-term soft loan agreement funded by the Japanese Government.

BYPASS (UNDERPASS) TUNNEL to start in 2018.




The objective of the project is to improve accessibility to main infrastructure facilities and mitigating congestion's in Davao City and by constructing a bypass road and improving existing access roads and thereby contribute to economic and sound urban development of the city.

INFORMATION DISCLOSURE UNDER NEW GUIDELINES

The project is not considered as to be a large scale infrastructure project, not located in a sensitive area and has none of the sensitive characteristics under the JICA Environmental and Social Considerations Guidelines and therefore, not to worry because it has no significant adverse impact to the environment.


Traffic Study has been made to determine what area are having a heavily used of trucks and which port/airport serve as a gateway to the manufacturing companies in Davao City.

Constructed in 2-packages:

Package 1

  • South section road with 28.8 kilometers - Davao-Digos section of the Philippine Highway in Brgy. Sirawan, Toril, and end at Brgy. Tugbok proper 
  • Center section tunnel of 2.28 kilometers - Brgy. Tugbok proper starts as the center section tunnel begins crossing Matina river and Brgy. Magtuod and will continue to the north-western direction from Brgy Waan and ends at Malagamot Road of Brgy Indangan.  

Package 2


  • North section road of 15.78 kilometers - From Brgy. Indangan it will end until it intersect Davao-Agusan National Highway in Brgy JP Laurel, Panabo City.

A 3-year project which will start on 2018 and have an expected completion in 2021.

  1. This is a helpful project for the city! Thanks to JICA! I hope we can fin a property for sale in Davao so that we can live in it for the rest of our lives.
