Globe Telecom: Davao, parts of Metro Manila, Metro Cebu switched to new network

Subscribers of Globe Telecom in Davao and some in parts of Metro Manila and Metro Cebu were the first to experience “much stronger” signal quality as a result of the switch over of at least 500 cell sites to the telecom firm’s new network systems.
 
“Residents in Davao are now enjoying clearer voice call qualitym easier call connection, on-time delivery of text messages and faster mobile surefing and downloading,” Globe Telecom president and CEO Ernest Cu said in a letter sent to postpaid subscribers.
 
Cu also revealed that “close to 500 cell sites in different towns and cities, including parts of Metro Manila and Metro Cebu have been switched on to the new network system” of Globe.
 
He recalled that the $700 million network modernization program is meant to “future proof” the telecom firm’s network so it could handle more data at faster speeds.
 
Cu admitted though that during the switch over to new equipment “temporary service interruptions may occur.”
 
“We will endeavor to make the equipment changes less cumbersome at your least convenience,” Cu said. — ELR, GMA News
